Morton takes over from Neil Robinson, corporate affairs director at Manchester Airports Group (MAG), who helped guide the coalition toward its landmark net zero pledge. Robinson also helped oversee the development of the Decarbonisation Road-Map: A Path to Net Zero, which was published alongside the announcement, setting out the steps necessary for the industry and government to achieve net zero.
Responsible for guiding Rolls-Royce’s investments in new environmental and energy technologies day-to-day, Morton will bring technical expertise to the chairship. One of the authors of the Decarbonisation Road-Map, he has been appointed to help the industry to implement the changes and technology needed to reach the target.
Launched in 2005, Sustainable Aviation is a long-term strategy which sets out the collective approach of UK aviation to work to ensure a cleaner, quieter, smarter future for the industry.
